"The Jamie Oliver of the Bar World"

Andy Pearson is an award-winning mixologist, drinks expert and Director of mixology website intoxicology.co.uk.  He was described by Theme Magazine as "The Jamie Oliver of Drink" and ranked 25th in the top 100 list of people to have shaped the UK bar industry.

Following sixteen years working behind the bar, twelve of which were spent managing a variety of the world's finest drinking establishments, including Roast (London), East @ West (London) and Rick's (Delhi, India), in 2010 Pearson decided to impart his enviable knowledge and experience on the public and founded intoxicology.co.uk.  The website is a rich source of information and is regularly updated with advice for anybody involved in the drinks trade as well as consumers interested in spirits, mixology and contemporary drinks culture.

A cocktail competition veteran, at both national and international level, Pearson is a leading drinks authority and highly respected amongst his industry peers. For the last three years Pearson has been lead judge on the panel for Diageo’s World Class Competition. Working alongside Marco Pierre-White, John Torode and Greg Wallace, he has been tasked with choosing the UK’s best bartender to go forward and compete for the global title; in 2010 he championed Erik Lorincz who went on to win the title and become head bartender at the American Bar at the Savoy. 

Pearson worked closely with the Gorgeous Group during the recent £220m refurbishment project at the Savoy where he was charged with training staff and advising on the back of house design.  Andy has also worked on similar projects for other hotel groups including the Taj (Delhi) the Shangri-La (Hong Kong), Hilton (Athens, Istanbul, Madrid) and the Royal Horseguards (London).

A former UK Bartenders Guild National Champion, he finished fifth in the World Championships in Taiwan when representing the UK in 2007 and was profiled by The Observer in the top ten in his category in the Courvoisier ‘Future 500’ program, set up to identify “the brightest and best rising stars across ten fields in the UK”. 

Andy Pearson presents a regular drinks segment on the BBC’s top rated Sunday morning show “Something for the Weekend”, working alongside the skills of Chef Simon Rimmer and presenter Tim Lovejoy, the programme attracts over a million viewers each week. He has also appeared on a number of the nation’s favourite TV shows including Cook along live with Gordon Ramsey, This Morning, Ready, Steady, Cook, The Real Hustle, Come Dine With Me and Market Kitchen. 

Pearson has also just launched his new project, Intoxicology TV, a creative extension of the Intoxicology website, He also continues to work with Shore Solutions, coaching personnel to work in the super-yacht industry both in the Caribbean and the Mediterranean, as well as various projects with some of the country’s finest chefs.
