Sometimes it can appear that us bartenders are speaking in a foreign tongue, this page helps to get us all speaking the same language.

    P

    Port

    A fortified red wine produced in the upper Douro region of northern Portugal. Has many varieties including : Vintage, crusted, L.B.V, dated, tawny and ruby.

    Pousse Cafe

    These are cocktails made up of layers of different coloured liquids and of different densities which are gently floated on top of each other with the aid of a barspoon. Known is the USA as floated liqueurs. The most famous exemple would be the B52, from bottom to the top : Kalhua, Bailey's, Grand Marnier.
